Corruption and scandal in the Ministry of Economy: Secretary of State detained, resignations and internal struggles

Flavius Nedelcea, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, was detained by the DNA for acts of corruption, after holding several well-paid positions in boards of directors. Investigators are looking into the source of his income, which exceeded 470,000 lei in 2024. Meanwhile, the Ministry was shaken by a physical conflict between two bosses, Lavinia Niculescu and Mihaela Popescu, as a result of which Niculescu resigned from her position as Secretary General, and the responsibilities were taken over by her opponent.
