Fire at a nursing home in Giurgiu: Over 40 people evacuated

A fire broke out at the nursing home for elderly people in the locality of Singureni, caused by a short circuit in a television. The incident occurred in a lounge, and firefighters from the Călugăreni Work Point and the Mihăilești Section intervened quickly, arriving with two fire trucks, one SMURD ambulance, and one SAJ ambulance.

Thanks to the rapid response, 34 beneficiaries and seven staff members self-evacuated safely before the intervention teams arrived. The fire destroyed the television, a chair, and textile articles, while a dresser and the room's paint were damaged.

An approximately 80-year-old person was assessed by the SAJ crew for a panic attack, but no other victims were reported following the incident.
