The public administrator of the Capital, Lucian Judele, announced that the authors of the illegal tree cuttings on Nicolae Grigorescu Blvd. 18 have been fined a total of 245,000 lei, to which an additional 30,000 lei will be added, for which a report is to be issued. Judele emphasized that these penalties represent a firm signal from the Bucharest City Hall for the protection of trees and against illegal cuttings. He stated that protecting green spaces is an obligation, not a whim, and called for the law initiated by the Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, to be adopted to turn abusive cuttings into criminal acts. Judele stated that Bucharest will no longer tolerate the destruction of green spaces and emphasized that those who cut trees without permission will pay, including with imprisonment.
