An 87-year-old man died in a fire in Strahotin, Botoșani, and his wife suffered minor burns and was hospitalized.

On Monday morning, a devastating fire occurred in a house in the locality of Strahotin, Dângeni commune, Botoșani County, resulting in the death of an 87-year-old man. His wife, aged 81, suffered minor burns to her face and was transported to the hospital for medical care.

The alarm was raised by a neighbor who noticed the smoke and alerted the authorities by calling 112, intervening personally to help the woman escape from the house. Firefighters from the Trușești Intervention Guard, the Dângeni Volunteer Emergency Service, and a crew from the Botoșani County Ambulance Service arrived at the scene. The firefighters found that the fire had affected two beds and the belongings nearby, and the man was found deceased on one of the beds. The fire was extinguished, and the authorities are set to investigate its cause.
