The Foundation for the Defense of Citizens Against State Abuses (FACIAS) has informed that it will continue the lawsuit against the Ministry of Transport for unblocking the application of Law no. 20/2022, adopted in January 2022 to increase road safety. Although the law should allow the organization of defensive driving courses for young drivers, it has remained unenforceable for four years due to the lack of the necessary ministerial order. FACIAS emphasizes that the Ministry of Transport has requested the dismissal of the action, arguing that there is no fixed deadline for adopting the regulations.

The Foundation contests these arguments, stating that an adopted law cannot remain blocked and that Romania cannot wait for European regulations to implement national measures. FACIAS will request the court to compel the ministry to issue the necessary regulations, highlighting the urgency of applying the law in the context of alarming statistics regarding road accidents in Romania.
