An explosion followed by a fire occurred in a studio apartment located on the third floor of a building in Balș, Olt County. The authorities activated the Red Intervention Plan.

Following the incident, two people suffered burns and were transported to the hospital in Slatina for medical care, while a third person suffered a panic attack and was also taken to the hospital. The authorities activated the Red Intervention Plan, mobilizing 10 teams from the Olt Emergency Situations Inspectorate, including six intervention teams and four SMURD ambulances.

At the scene, five residents were medically evaluated, and 30 people from the building were evacuated or self-evacuated. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion, under the conditions in which there are gas appliances in the residence. Firefighters continue to intervene to extinguish the fire caused by the explosion.
