Following the collapse of a former salt mine in Coștiui, the authorities have decided to preventively evacuate 51 people from 22 homes to ensure their safety. The evacuation has been carried out with the support of the Emergency Situations Inspectorate and is being carried out under temporary relocation conditions. Specialists are continuing to assess the affected land and the authorities are advising people to respect access restrictions in the risk area. The crater is 30 meters in diameter and 10-15 meters deep.
