The Capital Police announced that the Bucharest Tribunal has issued a European Arrest Warrant for Atas Abdullah, who has been wanted internationally at the request of the Criminal Investigation Service. Atas Abdullah, incarcerated since 2015 for murder, did not return to Rahova Penitentiary after the expiration of the leave granted between January 23 and 26, 2026.
The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Bogdan Despescu, mentioned that it is likely that Abdullah has left Romania, considering that there are indications that he may have gone to Turkey. Authorities continue to investigate the situation and collaborate with international partners to locate him.
