At a debate organized by the Association of Municipalities in Romania, independent mayor Emil Drăghici asked PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu why he criticizes the Government's measures, given that his party is part of the coalition and voted for these measures. Drăghici, who is also the president of the Association of Municipalities, emphasized that mayors could ask why the PSD does not oppose the measures it contests.
Grindeanu responded that the measures will come, but that there are aspects related to local taxes and fees that can be corrected. In his speech, Grindeanu mentioned that there has been an attempt to "demonize" mayors in Romania, stating that they are often portrayed as incapable if they do not receive large funds from the budget. He called for a sincere and open approach in discussions about the issues faced by mayors.
