Emil Boc, the mayor of Cluj and former prime minister, stated that it is beneficial for PNL and PSD to separate, emphasizing that they have lost a lot due to prolonged collaboration. In an interview with Digi24, Boc asserted that PNL must remain true to its identity, as must PSD, in order to meet the expectations of voters.

He confirmed that the PNL Congress will take place in 2027 and that an extraordinary congress is not necessary, considering that only four members opposed the decision to enter the opposition. Boc reiterated that PNL will support European projects and will respect the mandate resulting from the recent vote. He also mentioned that he will not support a national unity government proposed by AUR, emphasizing that the formation of a new government is the responsibility of the President of Romania. PNL unanimously decided to enter the opposition after the dismissal of the Bolojan Government.
