Elena Udrea, former Minister of Tourism, has received the approval of the Ploiești Court for a conditional release, but this is not a final decision. Udrea is currently hospitalized after surgery. Sentenced to six years in prison in the 'Gala Bute' case, Udrea challenged the execution of her sentence and the Prahova Court of Appeal has accepted the deduction of eight months from her sentence. She has been incarcerated since June 2022 after extradition from Bulgaria. The damages in this case amount to €3 million.
