The state company Electrocentrale Craiova SA, the main supplier of thermal and electric energy in Craiova, has entered insolvency proceedings, a decision made by the Dolj Tribunal. This was determined by the debts accumulated from the non-payment of CO₂ emission certificates, imposed by European legislation.
The Deputy Mayor of Craiova, Dan Păloiu, emphasized that the company's problems are not unique and that the Romanian state bears part of the responsibility. The insolvency procedure offers the company an opportunity for reorganization, allowing it to continue operations without blocking bank accounts. A judicial administrator has been appointed to assess the financial situation and propose reorganization measures. Păloiu assured that the supply of hot water and heating will not be affected, countering rumors from the online environment.
