Electrocentrale București S.A. (ELCEN) has announced the launch of the procurement procedure for the project 'Implementation of a high-efficiency cogeneration unit at CTE Grozăvești'. This investment is part of ELCEN's strategy to develop modern and efficient energy capacities, aiming to increase the security of thermal energy supply in Bucharest.

The project, with an estimated value of 600 million lei, will benefit from non-reimbursable funding through the Modernization Fund. The new unit will have an installed capacity of 32.5 MWe and 41 MWt, using modern technology and being 'hydrogen ready'. The implementation of this unit will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency to 81.05%, and ensure the thermal energy necessary for consumers in the centralized system.

The project complies with the strictest environmental requirements and will include emission monitoring systems for compliance with European standards. ELCEN thus continues the modernization program of power plants in Bucharest, with total investments of over 3.5 billion lei.
