ELCEN will directly connect CET Bucharest West to the National Gas Transmission System through an investment estimated at RON 83.3 million, included in the company’s program for 2026–2028. The project aims to reduce gas procurement costs and improve the security of the capital’s heating supply.
The EPCC contract provides for the construction of a 480-meter underground high-pressure pipeline in Sector 6. The route will pass beneath Timișoara Boulevard and will primarily use public land, connecting the existing branch to a new pressure regulation and metering station within the CET Bucharest West premises. The implementation period is estimated at 36 months.
According to ELCEN, the direct connection to the Transgaz main pipeline will eliminate intermediary fees and could reduce the production cost of heat, potentially affecting the costs borne by consumers. The measure would also ensure more stable gas pressure and greater predictability of operating expenses.
CET Bucharest West contributes to supplying the capital with hot water and heat, as part of a system serving approximately 560,000 apartments and 5,400 institutions and businesses. ELCEN is pursuing the direct connection of all its plants to Transgaz and is simultaneously developing cogeneration projects at Grozăvești, Progresu and Bucharest South, with a total value of more than RON 5 billion.
