The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel alert level of 7 out of 9, which specifically applies to areas in the northern Sinai Peninsula and the borders with Libya and Sudan. This alert has generated discussions among tourists, with some believing that a conflict in the Middle East will not affect Egypt, while others recommend avoiding travel during this period.
Egypt, ranked 4th in the list of vacation destinations for Romanians, attracted 180,000 tourists in 2024. Every spring, the destinations of Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh receive tens of thousands of Romanian tourists, with frequent charter flights from Romania.
Although the conflict in the Middle East raises questions about security, Egypt remains a popular destination, especially in the off-season, when travel agencies rely on this destination to attract tourists.
So far, there have been no cancellations of vacations to Egypt, and tour operators continue to operate regular flights to this country.
