Thousands of fish have been found dead in Lake Corbu, in Constanța County, in an incident that authorities are investigating to determine the causes. According to preliminary estimates, it involves approximately 15-20 tons of fish from the species carp, bream, bleeding, and roach, most of the specimens weighing over 5 kilograms.
The phenomenon was observed two days ago, and the number of dead fish has continued to rise, according to Digi24. The lake administrator stated that the surplus water resulting from the rains is normally discharged into the lake, but claims that this is the first time they are facing fish mortality of such magnitude. No similar situations have been reported in nearby lakes.
Representatives of the National Agency for Fishing and Aquaculture have gone to the site to assess the situation and determine the causes of the phenomenon. At the same time, other competent institutions are set to collect water samples from various areas of the lake for analysis.
