On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:23 AM, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred in the seismic area of Vrancea, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 90 km and was felt in cities such as Focșani, Sfântu-Gheorghe, Bacău, Buzău, Bârlad, and Brașov. This is one of the 19 earthquakes recorded in Romania in October, with magnitudes between 2 and 4 on the Richter scale. The largest earthquakes this year were 4.4, recorded on February 13 in Buzău County and on May 11 in Vrancea County.
