On Monday evening, around 8:40 PM, the Svinița Border Police intervened to rescue a Serbian citizen in danger on the Danube River. Authorities were alerted through a call to 112, and a crew from the Svinița Border Police, already on a mission, quickly arrived at the scene.
The rescuers identified a man who was floating adrift on a buoy and calling for help. He had been carried by the currents of the Danube, reaching near the locality of Svinița, Mehedinți.
The police officers brought him safely to shore and requested the intervention of a medical crew. The man received first aid and was transported to the hospital for investigations. After he recovered, he explained that he had fallen asleep on the buoy and did not realize he had been carried by the currents of the Danube. Authorities confirmed that the Serbian citizen is out of any danger and, after completing the checks, he was handed over to the competent authorities in Serbia.
