The president of PSD Bacău, MEP Dragoș Benea, condemned the raising of the flags of Hungary and the Szekler Land at the Rakoczi Fortress in Ghimeș, during an event dedicated to the completion of rehabilitation works, funded with 1.3 million euros by the National Investment Company. Benea stated that this gesture represents a serious affront to the image of Romania and a form of disloyalty towards the Romanian state, which supported the works. He accused local authorities, including the USR prefect and the president of Bacău County Council, of ignorance towards these national symbols. Benea emphasized that the presence of foreign flags and the absence of tricolor flags by officials at an official event is an arrogance that can fuel extremism. The event was attended by UDMR leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Tánczos Barna and Minister Cseke Attila.
