The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has issued a warning regarding a fraud method targeting individuals seeking quick loans. The scam begins on Facebook groups dedicated to loans, where suspicious accounts appear offering attractive deals. Interested parties are directed to discuss on WhatsApp with an alleged creditor.

DNSC emphasizes that these accounts often use photos taken from the internet, and the phone numbers have prefixes from outside Europe. The scammers request sensitive information, including name, address, monthly income, and copies of identity documents. The data ends up in the hands of attackers, and some victims have reported the suspension of their WhatsApp accounts.

DNSC recommends not to trust loan offers from strangers, to verify profiles, and not to send personal data. Activating two-factor authentication is also recommended for the protection of online accounts. Specialists warn that a loan offered by a stranger is not free, and the real cost lies in the personal data of the victim.
