The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has issued a warning regarding a new attempt at fraud on WhatsApp, in which users are lured with promises of earnings of up to 1,000 lei per day for liking videos. The messages, claiming to come from 'CERT.RO Human Resources Department', are a scam intended to obtain the personal and financial data of victims. After users add the indicated number to their contacts, they receive messages requesting confidential information, links to fake pages, or authentication codes. DNSC emphasizes that no public institution will contact users on WhatsApp for quick earnings offers and recommends vigilance. Additionally, DNSC has recently warned OLX Romania users about the increase in fraud attempts, where criminals create fake websites and links to obtain personal data. These increasingly sophisticated scams can lead to significant financial losses, and DNSC reiterates that if an offer seems too good to be true, it is likely a scam.
