The prosecutors of DNA Cluj launched searches on Wednesday morning at the home and office of Radu Moldovan, the president of the Bistrița-Năsăud County Council, according to judicial sources. This is the third major case handled by DNA Cluj in recent months, following the cases of the head of the Road Authority and the former chief architect of the Baia Mare City Hall.
DNA confirmed that the searches target suspicions of corruption and money laundering related to public procurement at the level of the Bistrița-Năsăud and Sălaj County Councils, taking place in 69 locations across several counties and Bucharest. Radu Moldovan is an influential PSD leader in Transylvania, and the searches also target the offices of the construction company Frasinul, as well as a notary. The investigated acts include abuse of office and bribery.
