On Friday morning, December 26, a violent fire destroyed a house in the locality of Stânesți, Lunca commune, Botoșani County.

According to ISU Botoșani, the fire was most likely caused by an unprotected chimney against combustible materials. Military firefighters from the Botoșani Detachment, the Flămânzi Work Point, as well as the Volunteer Emergency Situations Service Lunca, intervened with three fire-fighting vehicles. The intervention lasted over an hour; however, the approximately 70 square meter residence was completely burned down. The owner suffered a panic attack and received medical care from the County Ambulance Service crew but refused transport to the hospital.
