On Monday morning, July 21, 2025, a fire broke out on the 4th floor of a block of flats in Baia Mare, causing panic and the evacuation of 28 people. Firefighters intervened quickly with 3 fire engines and medical teams, managing to save 17 people. Two victims, including a woman with burns to her airways and a man with smoke poisoning, were taken to hospital. The stairwell was flooded with smoke and prompt intervention prevented a greater tragedy.
