A fire deliberately started by a patient broke out Thursday evening at the Psychiatry and Safety Measures Hospital in Ștei, Bihor County. Following the intervention, 116 people were safely evacuated or self-evacuated, and the Red Intervention Plan was activated and subsequently deactivated.
According to ISU Bihor, the fire was started by a patient lacking discernment. The fire broke out in the hospital building, and the emergency crews acted to extinguish it and evacuate the people on the building’s two floors.
Initially, the authorities announced that 56 people inside the building had been safely evacuated. Subsequently, the Ministry of Health reported that the total number of people evacuated or who self-evacuated had reached 116.
Five hospital employees, three women and two men, suffered mild smoke inhalation. They took care of evacuating the patients from the first floor. After the situation had been managed by the emergency crews, the authorities deactivated the Red Plan.
