Declic has filed a court action to challenge the appointment of Liei Savonea as president of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, backed by a petition with 70,000 signatures. The action argues that the appointment procedure was illegal, having been started almost three months earlier than required by law. Declic points out that the independence of the judiciary must be perceived by citizens as guaranteed and that Savonea's appointment is problematic because of his controversial track record. The campaign is being coordinated by lawyer Roxana Mândruțiu and costs are being covered by donations from community members.
