Daniel David has returned to the position of rector of Babeș-Bolyai University after resigning from the position of Minister of Education.

Daniel David has been reinstated as the rector of Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca, after resigning from the position of Minister of Education on December 22, 2025. He suspended his role as rector a year prior when he was appointed minister. Now, his name appears again on the university's website. The Ministry of Education currently does not have a designated minister, and President Nicușor Dan signed the decree accepting his resignation only on January 14.

Daniel David, in his second term as rector, has been a professor of clinical cognitive sciences since 2007 and a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy since 2022. During his time as minister, the interim at UBB was ensured by Professor Adrian Petrușel. David publicly announced his resignation, emphasizing in his final message the conclusion of his term.
