The president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, stated that the current mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, is the favorite to represent the party in the electoral race for the General Mayor of Bucharest. Grindeanu mentioned that the polls place Băluță at the top of the PSD options. This statement comes in the context in which Gabriela Firea announced that she will not run for the Capital's mayoralty, preferring to remain a Member of the European Parliament.

Firea emphasized that she will support the PSD candidate, but criticized the way she was treated in the past, when she was considered the "candidate for now". Grindeanu expressed optimism that PSD will have a united approach in the elections, both in Bucharest and in other regions.
