The Court of Accounts has asked the Ministry of Culture to speed up the evaluation of cultural assets, highlighting management problems and undervaluation.

The Court of Accounts has recommended the Ministry of Culture to carry out an urgent evaluation of movable cultural goods, given that 60% of them have a book value of 10 lei or less. The audit revealed a lack of centralized and up-to-date records, difficulties in monitoring and risks of loss of assets. Almost 97% of movable assets are unclassified and some are double-classified. It also pointed out shortcomings in the management of historic monuments and the organization of international exhibitions, recommending legislative and procedural improvements.
