In the commune of Sopot in Dolj, the residents voted three times in two years, and the recent result is surprising: Costinel Busduceanu, the PSD candidate, won the mayoralty, although he had previously won as a member of PNL. His previous mandate was invalidated at the request of PSD, as he was simultaneously the secretary of the mayor's office and a candidate.

Busduceanu claimed that he requested to be suspended from the position of secretary, but the prefecture, led by PSD, did not accept. After six months, he changed his strategy, joined PSD, and won the elections in December. This victory ensures that the social democrats have control over the mayor's office, considering that in the local elections of 2024, the mayor's office had been won by a PSD member who resigned.

Similar situations have been observed in other localities, such as the commune of Mihai Eminescu in Botoșani, where the mayor's office has been run by the same family for nearly two decades.
