The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, stated that the acquisition of three surgical robots for 132 million lei excluding VAT by the Bucharest Military Hospital was made through an abusively organized auction. The control revealed that the price of these robots was 59% higher than that of the competitors, and the scoring criteria were misinterpreted to favor a certain supplier. Miruță provided examples of abusive criteria, such as the evaluation of energy consumption in standby mode, which was manipulated to influence the outcome of the auction. Following these findings, the contract was suspended, and an investigation was initiated by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate.
Additionally, the minister mentioned irregularities in the procurement of components for the hyperbaric chamber at the Divers Center in Constanța, where the prices were 6.5 times higher than those on the market, resulting in an estimated damage of 8.4 million lei. Miruță forwarded the entire audit material to the DNA for investigation.
