The exercise takes place between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with the aim of verifying how the bed of the Argeș River can manage the volumes of water discharged, in view of emptying the dam for modernization works. Over 200 specialists from various institutions are involved, and the area is constantly monitored, including with drones.

Residents and tourists have been warned via RO-Alert messages not to approach the riverbed. The controlled emptying of the Vidraru reservoir is a first since 1974 and will take place in stages until February 2026, aiming to evaluate and modernize the dam.
