The commissioners of the National Environmental Guard, in collaboration with the Gendarmerie and the Romanian Police, carried out a large-scale control action in Dâmbovița County, in the localities of Mătăsaru and Dragodana, where they imposed fines totaling 553,000 lei. The action targeted illegally held waste, illegal waste burning, and the illegal trade of waste. The Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, emphasized the importance of stopping the "waste mafia" and announced that 24 inspections were carried out, approximately 140 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous waste were confiscated, and some economic operators had their activities suspended. Additionally, a criminal case was opened in rem. Buzoianu promised that control actions would be intensified, using drones and new equipment purchased through the PNRR, to protect communities from the harmful effects of these illegal activities.
