Fines of over 760,000 lei for non-compliance with SGR in Buzău

The Buzău County Commissariat of the National Environmental Guard imposed fines of over 760,000 lei on economic agents in 2025 and 2026 for non-compliance with the legislation regarding the Deposit-Return System (SGR).

During the inspections, violations were found such as the lack of contracts or collection points for packaging. In 2025, 123 inspections were carried out, resulting in 67 fines totaling 507,500 lei, while in 2026, 42 inspections led to 26 fines amounting to 253,500 lei. Authorities emphasized that traders in 17 municipalities do not comply with the legal obligations for the return of SGR packaging, and last year, Buzău County collected 6,437.37 tons of packaging, ranking 21st nationally.

SGR allows consumers to recover a deposit of 0.50 lei for each returned packaging.
