The Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, announced the signing of the SAFE contract for the design and execution of section 4 of the "Unirii" A8 Highway, which will complete the last 15.5 kilometers of the highway between Târgu Mureș and Iași, including the first 5 kilometers on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The signed agreement clarifies aspects related to connectivity and the financing of the road bridge between the two countries, a project that will be completed in the autumn of this year.

Work on the 15-kilometer section between Iași and Ungheni will begin after a design period of approximately six months, with a completion deadline by 2030. The contract, worth 3.57 billion lei, will include the construction of 14 bridges, two tunnels, and two road junctions. The A8 Highway is essential for economic development and improving mobility between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
