Eurostat has published data regarding port traffic, which places the port of Constanța in 8th place in the EU, with a decrease in maritime transport in 2023.

Europe, with a rich maritime history, hosts essential ports for global trade, and in 2023, the EU accounted for 14% of world trade. The port of Constanța in Romania ranks 8th in the Eurostat ranking, under the conditions where the total weight of goods transported through EU ports decreased by 5.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 1.6 billion tons.
