On January 27, 2023, we commemorate the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust Victims, marking 81 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp by the Red Army in 1945. In this camp, over 1 million men, women, and children lost their lives, the majority being Jews. This day honors not only the victims of the Holocaust but also those of other genocides in recent decades, including those in Cambodia, Rwanda, and Bosnia. On this occasion, an official ceremony will take place, attended by Holocaust survivors and officials, highlighting the importance of memory and education in preventing such atrocities in the future.
