On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, the General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that he will continue to integrate bicycle lanes into the rehabilitation and modernization projects of the roads in Bucharest. He emphasized that during his time as sector mayor, every new road included bicycle lanes, contributing to the construction of approximately 10 km of lanes in Sector 6.

The Bucharest Municipality (PMB) has approved a Velo master plan that provides for the creation of 150 km of lanes on main arteries and 400 km on secondary streets. Currently, work is underway on several projects, including on Bd. Iuliu Maniu and Calea Griviței, and PMB has allocated a budget for the arrangement of 12.8 km of lanes this year. Ciprian Ciucu highlighted the importance of connecting lanes between sectors to encourage the use of bicycles as a sustainable means of transport.
