Petre Daniel Anghel, chief commissioner within the Buzău Police, has been placed in preventive arrest for 30 days, accused by the DNA of bribery.
Between November 2025 and June 2026, Anghel allegedly demanded 15,000 euros and received 77,500 lei from two witnesses, in exchange for the help offered to one of them, who was sentenced to prison, to file a criminal complaint. This complaint was necessary to obtain a reduction of the sentence in the appeal phase.
On June 27, 2026, Anghel received 7,500 lei, which he immediately exchanged at a currency exchange office, being caught in the act by anti-corruption prosecutors. The criminal investigation continues, and Anghel benefits from the presumption of innocence. The statement was issued in accordance with legal regulations regarding relations with the media.
