The Capital City Hall has announced important changes in public transport in Bucharest. Tram line 55 will operate on a shortened route between "Piața Sf. Vineri" and "Piața Iancului", while line 243 will run between "Emil Racoviță" and "Bulevardul Lacul Tei", on a modified route. Additionally, bus line 290 will be established, connecting the Colentina and Băneasa areas. Tram line 5 has been reopened after the track was rehabilitated over a distance of 4.25 km, part of a modernization project for 50 km of track, of which 5 km have been completed so far. The modernization works began in February 2024 and are divided into 16 lots, with a completion deadline by the end of 2029. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized the importance of reopening line 5, which will improve mobility in the densely populated office area.
