Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu announced that CFR Marfă will declare bankruptcy by May 31, and its operations are being taken over by Carpatica Feroviar, a company that has already started to operate and take over the activity.
Some of the employees of CFR Marfă have been hired by Carpatica, while others opted for voluntary departure, receiving severance pay, Oana Gheorghiu announced.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Transport has a clear timeline for this transition and that the dialogue with the union is constructive, without tensions.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned the importance of CFR SA for the railway infrastructure in Romania, announcing that the Ministry of Transport must present a multiannual investment plan by April 30, essential for improving train speeds.
Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu also announced that next week she will propose for approval in the Government a memorandum regarding the recovery of the 22 state companies analyzed in a briefing presented Thursday in the Executive meeting, Agerpres reports. Thus, the Government will analyze the listing of several state companies on the stock exchange, including CEC, but the final decision has not yet been made, the Deputy Prime Minister stated on Thursday.
