The Romanian Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, had a bilateral meeting on February 20 with Kristi Noem, Secretary for Homeland Security of the USA, at the Department of Homeland Security headquarters. The discussions focused on cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) and DHS, addressing topics such as migration management, border security, and combating organized crime.

During the discussions, the importance of the Transnational Criminal Investigative Unit in Bucharest was highlighted, a regional hub for combating cross-border crime.

Predoiu presented the progress made through programs implemented with DHS, such as the Enhanced Border Security Partnership and the Automated Targeting System.
