Cătălin Predoiu, the interim Minister of Internal Affairs, had a meeting with Mike Rogers, the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Congress, during the visit of a U.S. congressional delegation to Romania. The discussions focused on strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the U.S., on security developments in the region, and on the strategic importance of the Black Sea, as well as the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of internal affairs.
Predoiu emphasized Romania's commitment to act as a reliable ally, a security provider, and a strategic partner of the U.S. Internal challenges were also addressed, such as hybrid threats and organized crime, highlighting the need for closer cooperation among strategic partners.
Predoiu expressed appreciation for the bipartisan support of the U.S. Congress and emphasized the importance of economic relations with the U.S. for Romania's security, advocating for attracting American investments.
