The French retailer Carrefour has announced the withdrawal from sale of several batches of raw and roasted peanuts from Romania, following a possible exceedance of the contaminants aflatoxin B1 and total aflatoxins. These toxins are produced by molds that frequently develop on agricultural crops stored in conditions of humidity and heat.
The announcement was published on the ANSVSA website, mentioning that the withdrawal was initiated after a notification received from the supplier DEPAL SRL. Carrefour recommends that individuals who possess these products do not consume them, but rather destroy them or return them to Carrefour stores, where the equivalent value will be refunded without the need to present the receipt. This measure is taken to protect consumer health.
