The Federation of Cancer Patients' Associations has reported a crisis in access to radiotherapy services for oncology patients in the Sud-Muntenia and Sud-Est regions, emphasizing that the situation is deteriorating due to political instability.
Patient organizations and health professionals have reported difficulties in diagnosis and treatment, and recent legislative measures limit access to essential medical services. Over 50-60% of diagnosed patients require radiotherapy, but the infrastructure in these regions is insufficient. Although Bucharest-Ilfov should serve a large number of patients, public centers cover only 10% of the necessary services, and resources are overstretched. The Federation calls on the authorities to utilize all available resources, regardless of their origin, and to improve patient access to necessary treatments without imposing restrictive administrative criteria.
