On Saturday, January 24, Călin Georgescu, former presidential candidate, laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in Carol I Park, marking 167 years since the Union of the Romanian Principalities. He emphasized the importance of the memory of the Romanian state, stating that "unity is achieved through unity" and that without the past, there is no present or future. Authorities implemented special security measures to prevent conflicts, with the Capital's Gendarmerie ensuring public order. Participants, who began to gather in the park, were monitored by order crews, and the area was cordoned off with protective fences.
Georgescu's supporters chanted messages such as "Georgescu is president." The event is taking place with an increased mobilization of law enforcement forces, considering last year's violent incidents. Authorities are constantly monitoring the area to maintain the safety of the participants.
