On Monday, June 29, the High Court of Cassation and Justice resumed the debates in the case in which Călin Georgescu is accused of complicity in an attempted action against the constitutional order and the communication of false information. The trial was resumed after a judge from the panel withdrew, and the court accepted the request for abstention.
The case was initially sent for trial by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, and Georgescu and the other defendants, including Horațiu Potra, contested the decision. Prosecutors claim that the group led by Potra attempted to infiltrate the protests following the annulment of the presidential elections in December 2024, with the aim of provoking violence. Călin Georgescu left the court without making detailed statements, expressing himself vaguely about the current situation.
