The border police in Iași confiscated a cloned car at the Stânca crossing point after having suspicions regarding the legal status of the vehicle. The car, stolen from Italy and registered in Belgium, was discovered during a routine check.

The Bulgarian driver stated that he did not know that the vehicle's serial number had been changed and that he had purchased the car from Belgium, paying the sum of 100,000 lei. Although the registration certificate had no alerts in the databases, further checks revealed that the car was listed as sought for confiscation. The border police opened an investigation for the crime of retention, and the vehicle, valued at 100,000 lei, was immobilized for further investigation.
