The Bucharest City Hall announced that it has submitted a non-reimbursable funding request of over 85 million lei for the intelligent traffic light system at intersections and the modernization of the Traffic Center.

The response from the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency is expected within a maximum of three months. The feasibility studies for the 92 intersections are already approved, and in the first phase, each intersection will be equipped with video cameras, sensors, and smart equipment that will allow the use of artificial intelligence to optimize traffic light management. This will adjust traffic light timings based on traffic flow and prioritize public transport.

The implementation of the project will take 14 months. In the second phase, the Traffic Center will be modernized, thus expanding the intelligent traffic light system to a total of 540 intersections.
