The Bucharest City Hall installs street drains, cooling tunnels, and shelters to protect the population from extreme temperatures.

The Municipality of Bucharest has initiated measures to protect the population against extreme temperatures by installing street showers, cooling tunnels, and public fountains in the heavily trafficked areas of the city. The first two street showers are already operational in Union Square, at the intersection with Bd. Unirii and Str. Halelor, providing moments of refreshment for all passersby, from children and seniors to tourists and delivery people.

A new cooling tunnel has been installed in University Square, at the National Theatre, and is set to open on Friday. The municipality plans to set up five more cooling points in areas such as Titan metro station, Calea Giulești, and Rahova Square. Additionally, public fountains are available on busy sidewalks, contributing to the comfort of citizens on hot days.
